DENTON, Texas (Interstat) — North Texas used a dominant first half to secure a 75-64 women’s basketball victory over Memphis on Tuesday night at North Texas Coliseum.

The Mean Green built a 40-22 halftime lead behind strong interior play, scoring 44 points in the paint. Memphis’s Tamya Smith scored a game-high 21 points, fueling a third-quarter rally where the Tigers outscored North Texas 28-16, but the early deficit proved too large.

Megan Nestor led North Texas with 17 points. The Mean Green improved to 10-7 overall, while Memphis fell to 7-11. An announced crowd of 1,371 watched the American Athletic Conference game.
