Georgia Tech at North Carolina State

Preview: Georgia Tech Visits No. Carolina State in ACC Women’s Basketball

RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — The North Carolina State Wolfpack look to continue their positive momentum while the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets seek an elusive signature win when the Atlantic Coast Conference foes meet in women’s basketball Thursday.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at Lenovo Center.

North Carolina State (7-4) enters on a high note after a dominant 87-61 road victory at Miami on Sunday. The Wolfpack’s offense has been potent, averaging 78.5 points over their last four games. Sophomore forward Khamil Pierre has been a driving force, coming off a 21-point performance against Miami and a historic 18-point, 16-rebound outing in a win over Southern Mississippi on Nov. 28.

Georgia Tech (4-8) aims to halt a two-game skid following a heartbreaking 57-56 loss at Wake Forest, also on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled on the road this season, posting a 1-5 record away from home. Guard Erica Moon, a key facilitator, led the team with eight points and three assists in the narrow defeat to the Demon Deacons.

The matchup pits Pierre’s versatile scoring and rebounding against a Georgia Tech defense that has allowed an average of 68.3 points per game. The Yellow Jackets will need more consistent offensive production to keep pace; they’ve been held under 65 points in five of their eight losses.

This contest opens the ACC schedule for both teams. North Carolina State holds a clear advantage in recent performance, but will be wary of a Georgia Tech team desperate to reverse its fortunes in conference play.
