Youngstown State at Mercyhurst
ERIE, Pa. (Interstat) — The Youngstown State Penguins, riding a two-game winning streak, will visit the winless Mercyhurst Lakers in a non-conference women’s basketball game on Thursday.
Youngstown State (3-1) is coming off a 60-53 home victory over Bucknell on Sunday. Erica King led the Penguins with 14 points, while Sophia Gregory grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. The Penguins’ only loss this season was a 96-52 defeat at Michigan State on Nov. 12.
The Lakers (0-3), still seeking their first victory, are looking to bounce back from a 53-49 home loss to Cornell on Nov. 14. Lena Walz scored 13 points and Jenna Van Schaik added 11 in the narrow defeat. Mercyhurst has faced a tough early schedule, including a 125-39 road loss to the same Michigan State team that defeated Youngstown State.
The game will be played at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Youngstown State’s next game is at home against Toledo on Nov. 25, while Mercyhurst travels to face Iowa State on Nov. 23.
