Youngstown State at North Dakota

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Interstat) — The Youngstown State Penguins and North Dakota Fighting Hawks, coming off vastly different season openers, will meet in a non-conference women’s basketball game Friday at Engelstad Arena.

Youngstown State (1-0) opened its season with a dominant 104-33 victory over Thiel on Monday. The Penguins’ offense was fueled by Casey Santoro and Paulina Hernandez, who each scored 14 points. Hernandez added three blocks.

North Dakota (0-1) began its campaign with a 91-47 road loss to Minnesota on Tuesday. In that game, Ava Miller led the Fighting Hawks with 11 points and four rebounds, while Walker Demers pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Despite the contrasting results, a projection from Interstat anticipates a tightly contested matchup, simulating a 100-100 final score.

The game is the first of a challenging early-season stretch for Youngstown State, which travels to face Michigan State on Nov. 12. North Dakota will hit the road for its next contest, playing at Green Bay on Nov. 11.
