CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami women’s basketball team defeated California 69-60 on Sunday at Watsco Center.

The Hurricanes used a decisive second-quarter run to take control of the nonconference game. Miami outscored California 21-12 in the period to build a 35-27 halftime lead after the teams were nearly even in the first quarter. The Golden Bears could not recover from the deficit, despite winning the third quarter 19-19. Miami maintained its advantage in the final period.

Miami dominated inside, scoring 38 points in the paint to California’s 28. The Hurricanes also capitalized on mistakes, scoring 12 points off turnovers while allowing only five. The loss drops California to 17-12 overall. Miami improves to 15-12.
