Aggies Dominate Razorbacks Behind Pryor’s Double-Double

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Interstat) — Ny’Ceara Pryor orchestrated a dominant performance with 16 points and 12 assists, leading Texas A&M to a decisive 78-57 victory over Arkansas in a Southeastern Conference women’s basketball game Sunday at Reed Arena.

The Aggies, improving to 12-11 overall, controlled the contest from the outset, using a 13-0 run bridging the first and second quarters to establish a lead they would never relinquish. The Razorbacks, who fell to 11-18, struggled offensively throughout, shooting just 33.3% from the field and managing only four assists against 14 turnovers.

Pryor, the 5-foot-3 junior from Baltimore, was the catalyst, facilitating the offense with precision and adding six rebounds. Her backcourt partner, Lemyah Hylton of Mississauga, Canada, contributed eight points, while the Aggies’ frontcourt provided a decisive advantage. Fatmata Janneh, a 6-1 forward from London, England, posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, and 6-5 post Lauren Ware of Bismarck, North Dakota, added 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

The most important stretch of the game came early. After a slow start by both teams, Texas A&M seized momentum with a 13-0 surge that turned a 10-7 lead late in the first quarter into a 23-7 advantage early in the second. The run was fueled by Aggies defense, which forced four Arkansas turnovers during the span, and efficient offense, with Pryor assisting on two baskets and scoring another. Arkansas went scoreless for over five minutes, a drought from which it never fully recovered.

Arkansas guard Taleyah Jones of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 37 minutes. Maria Anais Rodriguez of Barcelona, Spain, added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Razorbacks. But the team’s offensive struggles were encapsulated by a mere four assists on 21 made field goals, highlighting a stagnant attack against the Aggies’ defensive pressure.

Texas A&M shot 48.4% from the field and connected on nine 3-pointers. Beyond the key contributors, Salese Blow of Murphy, Texas, provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, all in the second half, helping to extinguish any notion of an Arkansas comeback. The Aggies also won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Arkansas 46-41.

The victory gives Texas A&M momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Aggies, who were projected with an 87.1% probability to win by Interstat’s ELO system, will host Mississippi State on Thursday. Arkansas, mired in a four-game losing streak, travels to face Oklahoma on the same night.
