Fort Wayne Pulls Away From Detroit in Horizon League Matchup
DETROIT (Interstat) — The Fort Wayne Mastodons used a dominant first half and a balanced scoring attack to secure a decisive 84-68 victory over the Detroit Titans in a Horizon League women’s basketball game Saturday at Calihan Hall.
The Mastodons, who led wire-to-wire, improved to 16-10 overall and 11-6 in conference play, while the Titans fell to 5-20 and 4-13.
The most critical phase of the game was its opening minutes, where Fort Wayne established a commanding tone it would never relinquish. The Mastodons’ defense was suffocating from the outset, forcing Detroit into a series of early turnovers and missed shots. Fort Wayne capitalized immediately, with Lauren Lee drawing a foul and hitting two free throws just 37 seconds into the contest for the game’s first points.
Detroit struggled to find any offensive rhythm, not scoring its first field goal until an Anna Lassan putback with 8:25 remaining in the first quarter. By that time, Fort Wayne had already built a lead. The Mastodons’ pressure was relentless, generating 13 steals for the game which led to a staggering 34 points off 21 Detroit turnovers. Conversely, the Titans managed only eight points off Fort Wayne’s 13 giveaways.
Fort Wayne’s offensive execution matched its defensive intensity in the first half. The Mastodons shot efficiently inside, finishing the game with 52 points in the paint, and shared the ball effectively, tallying 13 assists to Detroit’s six. This combination allowed Fort Wayne to build a 44-28 halftime advantage, with the Titans never threatening the lead after the initial minutes.
Lili Krasovec led Fort Wayne with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, adding four assists. She was one of four Mastodons to score in double figures. Jordan Reid, a 5-foot-10 guard from New Palestine, Indiana, scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed five rebounds. Alana Nelson, a 5-11 forward from Springport, Michigan, contributed 16 points and five rebounds, while Rylee Bess, a 5-6 guard from Pickerington, Ohio, added 15 points.
Detroit was led by Makayla Jackson’s game-high 22 points. Aaliyah McQueen scored 17 points and Jasmine Edwards finished with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Titans.
Fort Wayne’s offensive rating of 104.1 on 81 possessions far outpaced Detroit’s mark of 81.7 on 83 possessions, underscoring the Mastodons’ superior efficiency. While Detroit mounted a stronger offensive showing in the second half, outscoring Fort Wayne 40-39, the early deficit proved far too large to overcome.
The Mastodons have now won two of their last three games. Detroit has lost two straight following a conference win over Oakland on Feb. 7.
An announced crowd of 455 attended the game on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
Fort Wayne next hosts Oakland on Wednesday. Detroit is scheduled to play Robert Morris at home on Thursday.
