Iowa Rallies Past Washington in Defensive Big Ten Clash

IOWA CITY, Iowa (Interstat) — The Iowa women’s basketball team overcame a strong start by Washington to secure a 65-56 victory Wednesday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. A crowd of 14,998 saw the Hawkeyes improve to 19-5 overall, while the Huskies fell to 18-7.

Washington led 25-19 after a high-scoring first quarter but was held to just five points in the second as Iowa built a 36-30 halftime lead. The Hawkeyes maintained control despite both teams shooting an identical 25 of 54 from the floor. Iowa’s efficiency from three-point range, making 6 of 12, and a significant advantage in turnovers, forcing 18 while committing nine, proved decisive.

Chazadi Wright led all scorers with 21 points for Iowa. Elle Ladine paced Washington with 19 points. The Hawkeyes next play at Nebraska on Monday, while the Huskies host Oregon on Sunday.
