Arkansas at Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two Southeastern Conference women’s basketball teams heading in opposite directions will meet Sunday when the Florida Gators host the Arkansas Razorbacks at the O’Connell Center.
Florida (14-11) looks to build on a defensive-minded 61-53 victory over Auburn on Thursday, which snapped a three-game skid. The Gators have shown resilience at home, going 3-1 in their last four conference games in Gainesville. They will lean on guard Laila Reynolds, who scored 17 points in the win over Auburn and is averaging 14.2 points over her last five contests.
Arkansas (11-13) arrives mired in a seven-game losing streak, all against SEC opponents. Their most recent outing was an 82-87 home loss to Missouri on Thursday. Despite the team’s struggles, guard Taleyah Jones has been a consistent bright spot, scoring 20 or more points in four of the last six games. She poured in 24 points in the loss to Missouri and is averaging 18.2 points per game during the losing streak.
The Razorbacks’ defense has been a primary concern, allowing an average of 86.1 points per game during the seven-game slide. Containing Reynolds and a balanced Florida attack, which also features Me’Arah O’Neal and Liv McGill, will be a key challenge.
Florida won the first meeting this season, 82-71, in Fayetteville on Jan. 1. Reynolds led the Gators with 19 points in that contest, while Jones was held to 11 points for Arkansas.
Sunday’s matchup is critical for both teams’ postseason aspirations. Florida aims to solidify its position and climb the SEC standings, while Arkansas desperately seeks a conference win to halt its prolonged slump and salvage its season trajectory. Tipoff is set for Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026.
