Northeastern at Towson

Preview: Northeastern Huskies at Towson Tigers

TOWSON, Md. (Interstat) — The Towson Tigers look to solidify their position in the Colonial Athletic Association standings when they host the struggling Northeastern Huskies in a women’s basketball matchup Sunday at SECU Arena.

Tipoff is set for Feb. 8, 2026, with the Tigers (12-9 overall) entering with a more successful record than the visiting Huskies (6-13). Towson seeks to rebound from a 68-54 road loss at Elon on Feb. 1, a game where Thalia Shepard posted 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Northeastern arrives on a four-game losing skid, most recently falling 65-56 to Drexel on Feb. 1. In that contest, Camryn Collins led the Huskies with 14 points, while Justice Tramble recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Tramble, a key player to watch for Northeastern, has been a consistent performer. She averaged 9.8 points over her last six games, including a 13-point effort in a win at Hofstra on Jan. 18. Her activity on the boards will be critical for the Huskies.

Towson will counter with guard Shariah Baynes, who is aiming for a return to form. After scoring 6 points with 2 rebounds and 2 assists at Elon, Baynes had a limited role in the three preceding games. Her backcourt production could be a catalyst for the Tigers’ offense.

The teams have followed divergent paths in conference play. Towson has shown resilience at home, securing narrow league wins over Hofstra (58-55) and Campbell (57-54) in early January. Northeastern has found victories harder to come by, with their last win dating to Jan. 18 at Hofstra.

This game represents the only regular-season meeting scheduled between the two programs this season. For Northeastern, it’s a chance to halt its slide and build momentum before hosting College of Charleston on Feb. 13. For Towson, it’s an opportunity to protect its home court ahead of a two-game road trip to Hampton and William & Mary next weekend.

The Tigers will rely on their interior presence, led by Semaya Turner (8 points, 7 rebounds vs. Elon), to control the paint, while the Huskies need scoring support beyond Tramble and Collins to challenge on the road.
