Lipscomb at Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. (Interstat) — A surging Central Arkansas squad looks to continue its climb up the ASUN Conference standings when it hosts a struggling Lipscomb team at the Farris Center on Saturday.

The Bears (12-10) enter the women’s basketball matchup having won three of their last four, including a dominant 64-39 road victory at Queens (N.C.) on Wednesday. Central Arkansas is led by guard Cheyanne Kemp, who erupted for 26 points in that win. Kemp has averaged 16.4 points over her last seven games, providing consistent offensive firepower.

The visiting Bisons (8-14), meanwhile, aim to halt a two-game skid after falling 61-55 to Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday. Lipscomb has lost five of its last seven contests and seeks to improve its road form, where it has gone 3-7 this season. The Bisons will lean on guard McKayla Miller, who scored 18 points in the loss to EKU and has averaged 15.1 points over her last eight outings. Miller’s scoring and defensive presence, with multiple blocks in five of those games, will be key.

This contest features a stark contrast in recent trajectories. Central Arkansas has found a rhythm, particularly on defense, holding opponents under 65 points in six consecutive games. Lipscomb’s offense has been inconsistent, failing to reach 60 points in four of its last seven losses.

The Bears won the season’s first meeting, 65-61, in Nashville on Jan. 5. Kemp led all scorers with 21 points in that game, while Miller paced Lipscomb with 17.

With the ASUN tournament picture taking shape, Central Arkansas can solidify its position in the upper half of the league, while Lipscomb desperately needs a quality road win to regain momentum. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in Conway.
