Indiana at Wisconsin

Preview: Indiana Hoosiers at Wisconsin Badgers

MADISON, Wis. (Interstat) — Two Big Ten women’s basketball teams looking to build momentum will meet Wednesday night when the Indiana Hoosiers visit the Wisconsin Badgers at the Kohl Center.

The matchup features teams with nearly identical records, as Indiana (12-10) and Wisconsin (13-9) both seek consistency in the conference slate. The Hoosiers are coming off a high-scoring 89-75 victory over Northwestern on Sunday, which snapped a five-game losing streak. The Badgers, meanwhile, aim to rebound from a tough stretch, having lost three of their last four, including an 81-58 defeat at Ohio State on Jan. 29.

The game will showcase two of the league’s premier scorers. Indiana is led by guard Shay Ciezki, who is entering on a torrid offensive pace. She dropped 33 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the win over Northwestern, following a 37-point outburst at Purdue on Jan. 25. Over her last six games, Ciezki is averaging 26.3 points.

Wisconsin will counter with its own offensive engine in guard Destiny Howell. She scored 29 points in the loss to Ohio State and delivered a monumental 39-point performance in a double-overtime win over Oregon on Jan. 18. When Howell scores 20 or more points this season, the Badgers are 5-2.

Indiana’s recent success against Northwestern was a full-team effort, with Lenée Beaumont adding 24 points and six rebounds and Maya Makalusky contributing 21 points. Replicating that balanced attack on the road will be key.

For Wisconsin, sustaining defensive pressure beyond Howell’s scoring will be critical. The Badgers have allowed an average of 81.3 points in their last three losses.

The Hoosiers hold a narrow edge in the all-time series, but the teams split their meetings last season, each winning on their home court. Wednesday’s contest represents a pivotal opportunity for both squads to solidify their positioning in the middle of the competitive Big Ten standings before the final push of the regular season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST. Indiana next hosts Purdue on Sunday, Feb. 8. Wisconsin will remain at home to face Washington on the same date.
