Marshall at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (Interstat) — A surging Marshall squad aims to continue its climb in the standings when it visits a struggling South Alabama team in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup Wednesday night at the Mitchell Center.

The Thundering Herd (18-6) enter on a high note after a dominant 95-54 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette this past Saturday. They have won six of their last eight games, with several victories coming on the road. The Jaguars (9-12), meanwhile, look to snap a five-game losing streak, most recently a 52-88 defeat at James Madison.

Marshall’s success is fueled by dynamic guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, who is in the midst of a stellar run. Over her last nine games, she has scored 20 or more points five times, including a 33-point, 10-assist performance against Troy and a 31-point effort in an overtime loss at Old Dominion. In the rout of Louisiana-Lafayette, she posted 24 points, five rebounds and five assists in just 30 minutes.

South Alabama will counter with forward Diawna Carter-Hartley, who has been a consistent presence. She is coming off an eight-point, five-rebound game at James Madison and scored 12 points in an overtime loss to Georgia State last week. The Jaguars will need a strong performance from her and improved production across the board to challenge the Thundering Herd.

The matchup pits one of the conference’s top offenses against a South Alabama team that has struggled to score during its skid, failing to reach 60 points in four of the five losses. Marshall’s balanced attack, which saw Kassie Ingram add 15 points and Meredith Maier 17 in the last outing, will test a Jaguars defense allowing an average of 74.4 points per game during the losing streak.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, in Mobile.
