KENT, Ohio (Interstat) — Mid-American Conference positioning will be on the line Wednesday when the Bowling Green Falcons visit the Kent State Golden Flashes in a women’s basketball matchup at the Memorial Athletics Center.

Bowling Green (11-10 overall) enters with a slight edge in the standings and seeks a regular-season sweep after defeating Kent State 73-69 at home on Dec. 20. The Falcons have lost three of their last four, however, including a 59-49 defeat at Toledo on Saturday. Guard Johnea Donahue led Bowling Green in that loss with 19 points, six rebounds and two blocks, continuing a strong stretch where she has averaged 13.4 points over her last seven games.

Kent State (9-12) looks to defend its home court and split the season series. The Golden Flashes are coming off a high-scoring 101-91 loss to Ball State on Sunday, despite a standout performance from guard Dionna Gray, who nearly posted a triple-double with 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Gray has been a consistent facilitator, averaging 8.4 assists over her last five contests.

The matchup features two of the conference’s top individual talents. Donahue provides scoring punch for the Falcons, while Gray’s all-around play drives the Golden Flashes’ offense. Containing these guards will be a key for both defenses.

Bowling Green has shown resilience on the road in conference play with wins at Western Michigan and Northern Illinois this month. Kent State has struggled recently, dropping four of its last five games, but holds a 6-4 record at home this season.

With both teams clustered in the MAC standings, Wednesday’s result will provide crucial momentum heading into the final month of the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
