SMU at Clemson

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) — The Clemson Lady Tigers, riding the momentum of a ranked road win, will look to continue their push in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings when they host the struggling SMU Mustangs on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at the Bi-Lo Center.

Clemson (14-7) is coming off a 65-58 victory at then-Notre Dame last Sunday, a signature result that bolstered its postseason resume. The Lady Tigers have won four of their last six, relying on a balanced attack and stout defense.

A key catalyst is junior guard Mia Moore, who is averaging 11.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game in conference play. She posted 14 points, six rebounds and three assists in the win at Notre Dame and dished out 12 assists in a Jan. 4 win at Miami.

They will face an SMU squad (8-13) mired in a difficult stretch, having lost seven of its last eight games. The Mustangs’ lone victory in that span was an 83-76 road win at Pittsburgh on Jan. 18, fueled by a spectacular 40-point outburst from senior guard Zahra King.

King remains the focal point for SMU, averaging 18.6 points per game in ACC play. She scored 18 points with eight assists in Sunday’s 75-66 home loss to Miami. Support from Anaya Brown (15 points) and Grace Hall (12 points, four blocks) in that game provided a positive sign, but consistent secondary scoring has been an issue for the Mustangs.

Defensively, SMU will be challenged to contain a Clemson team that has scored 70 or more points in eight of its 14 wins this season. The Lady Tigers have been particularly strong at home, boasting a 9-2 record in Greenville.

This contest is the first and only scheduled regular-season meeting between the programs this season. For Clemson, it represents a critical opportunity to solidify its standing before a tough February slate. For SMU, it is a chance to spring a road upset and build momentum as the conference season reaches its midpoint.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
