Saint John`s at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — A surging Saint John’s squad aims to continue its climb in the Big East standings when it visits a struggling Creighton team at CenturyLink Center on Wednesday.

The Red Storm (16-6) enter with momentum after a 71-58 victory over Villanova on Saturday, their third win in four games. The Bluejays (8-12), meanwhile, look to halt a two-game skid following a 76-61 loss at DePaul.

Saint John’s success has been fueled by forward Brooke Moore, who is coming off a dominant 20-point, 8-rebound, 4-assist performance against Villanova. Over her last eight games, the versatile junior has been a consistent force on both ends of the floor.

Creighton will counter with forward Grace Boffeli, who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to DePaul. Boffeli has been a bright spot, averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds over her last seven contests.

The matchup is a reversal of the teams’ first meeting this season, a 60-52 Creighton victory in Queens on Dec. 4. The Bluejays will need a similar defensive effort to slow a Red Storm team that has found its rhythm. Saint John’s has relied on a balanced attack, with players like Beautiful Waheed and Shaulana Wagner providing significant contributions alongside Moore.

For Creighton, consistency remains the challenge. The Bluejays followed an impressive 82-64 win over Xavier with a narrow road loss to Providence and the defeat at DePaul. Guard Ava Zediker, who scored 19 against the Blue Demons, will be key alongside Boffeli.

Wednesday’s game is critical for both teams’ conference positioning. Saint John’s seeks to solidify its standing in the upper tier of the Big East, while Creighton aims to salvage its season by building a late-run toward .500.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CST at CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
