Tennessee Tech at Lindenwood
SAINT CHARLES, Mo. (Interstat) — A surging Lindenwood looks to continue its climb in the Ohio Valley Conference standings when it hosts a Tennessee Tech team desperate to snap a skid in a women’s basketball matchup Thursday night.
The Lions (13-6) have won four of their last five games and sit at 4-2 in conference play. They host the Golden Eagles (10-6, 1-4 OVC) at Robert F. Hyland Performance Arena. Lindenwood is coming off a narrow 73-70 road loss to Tennessee-Martin on Saturday, which snapped a four-game win streak.
A key to Lindenwood’s success has been the play of Aleshia Jones. The guard is averaging 17.3 points over her last three contests, including a 24-point performance in a win over Southeast Missouri State on Jan. 15 and a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double in a dominant win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Jan. 10.
Tennessee Tech, meanwhile, arrives reeling from five consecutive losses, all by single digits and four within a three-point margin. The most recent was a heartbreaking 67-66 home defeat to Morehead State on Saturday. The Golden Eagles’ last win came on Dec. 30.
Despite the team’s struggles, guard Reghan Grimes has been a consistent offensive force. She is averaging 17.3 points over her last four games, highlighted by a 29-point outing in a one-point loss at Eastern Illinois on Jan. 8. In the loss to Morehead State, Grimes posted 17 points and six assists.
Lindenwood holds a decisive edge in recent form and the comfort of home court, where they are 7-2 this season. The Lions’ defense, which held opponents under 66 points in three of their last four wins, will aim to contain Grimes. Tennessee Tech’s challenge will be to break its pattern of late-game woes and find scoring support beyond its top guard to challenge the conference’s upper tier.
The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. CST tipoff.
