Morehead State at Tennessee Tech

Preview: Morehead State Eagles at Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — Ohio Valley Conference women’s basketball play continues Saturday as the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles host the Morehead State Eagles at Eblen Center.

The Golden Eagles (10-5 overall) look to snap a four-game skid, their most recent a 71-69 overtime loss to Southern Indiana on Thursday. Despite the losing streak, they hold a superior record to the visiting Eagles (9-9), who are coming off a 70-62 loss at Tennessee State.

Tennessee Tech’s fortunes may hinge on the performance of guard Chloe Larry, who has been a bright spot during the slide. She scored 23 points in 41 minutes in the overtime defeat and is averaging 16.3 points over her last three contests.

Morehead State will counter with forward Kate Dike, who has been a consistent force. Dike is coming off a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds against Tennessee State and has averaged 14.4 points and 7.9 rebounds over her last seven games. A standout performance came in a win at SIU Edwardsville on Jan. 3, where she posted 29 points and 10 rebounds.

The matchup features two teams heading in opposite directions within conference play. Morehead State had won four straight OVC games before Thursday’s loss, while Tennessee Tech’s conference record has been dented by four consecutive narrow defeats, three by six points or fewer.

Historically, Tennessee Tech has dominated the series, but the Eagles will aim to leverage Dike’s interior presence and the scoring support of Laura Toffali, who had a team-high 19 points last outing.

Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon in Algood. The game is a key mid-conference test for both squads as they jockey for position in the OVC standings ahead of the February stretch run.
