BOSTON (Interstat) — The Northeastern women’s basketball team used a strong start and finish to edge Monmouth 72-67 on Sunday at Matthews Arena. The Huskies opened a 23-8 lead after one quarter, but the Hawks charged back to take a brief third-quarter lead. Northeastern closed the game on a 23-19 run in the fourth to secure the win.

Camryn Collins led Northeastern with 19 points. GiGi Gamble scored 16 for Monmouth. Justice Tramble added 13 points for the Huskies, who improved to 5-9. Maria Amaro dished seven assists for the Hawks, who fell to 10-5. Attendance was 287.
