Bradley at Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. (Interstat) — The undefeated Western Illinois Leathernecks will put their perfect start on the line when they host the Bradley Braves in a nonconference women’s basketball game Thursday at Western Hall.

Western Illinois (3-0) is coming off an 86-75 victory over Chicago State on Monday, powered by a dominant 31-point, 15-rebound performance from Mia Nicastro. Raegan McCowan added 18 points and six rebounds for the Leathernecks, who also own a road win over Northern Illinois.

Bradley (2-1) looks to rebound from its first loss of the season, a 75-67 defeat at IU Indianapolis on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Braves got strong offensive showings from Maya Foz, who scored 18 points, and Kaylen Nelson, who added 21 points and six rebounds. Bradley opened its season with a decisive 78-64 win over DePaul.

The matchup pits Bradley’s high-scoring duo against a Western Illinois squad that has eclipsed 85 points in two of its three games. The Leathernecks will aim to protect their home court and remain unbeaten, while the Braves seek to get back on track before a Sunday home game against Bellarmine.
