Lafayette at Wagner
NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Lafayette Leopards will look to build on their first winning streak of the season when they visit the Wagner Seahawks in a non-conference women’s basketball matchup on Thursday.
The game at Spiro Sports Center pits two teams seeking consistency in the early season. Lafayette (2-3) enters with momentum after a 69-55 road victory over Saint Francis (PA) on Sunday. Sauda Ntaconayigize led the way with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. The Leopards’ other win was a 76-58 decision over Saint Peter’s on Nov. 13.
Wagner (1-3) is looking to rebound from a difficult 78-29 loss at Syracuse on Sunday. The Seahawks’ lone victory was a dominant 88-46 win over Division III SUNY New Paltz on Nov. 5. They have struggled offensively in their losses, failing to score more than 60 points.
The matchup could hinge on Lafayette’s ability to carry its recent offensive output to the road, while Wagner will aim to tighten its defense after allowing an average of 78 points in its three defeats.
