Arkansas-Little Rock at Tennessee Tech

Preview: Arkansas-Little Rock at Tennessee Tech

ALGOOD, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the second half of the season will meet Saturday when the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles host the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game at Eblen Center.

Both teams enter with identical 10-win records, though Tennessee Tech (10-8) has played two fewer games than UALR (10-10). The matchup is a quick rematch of a Jan. 1 contest in Little Rock, which the Trojans won 51-44.

Arkansas-Little Rock arrives with some confidence after snapping a two-game skid with a 60-54 road victory at Tennessee State on Thursday. Guard Alaina Payne led the Trojans with 15 points and three assists in that win. Over her last eight games, Payne has averaged 8.4 points and 2.1 assists, serving as a key facilitator.

Tennessee Tech, meanwhile, looks to halt a six-game losing streak. The Golden Eagles fell 67-62 at SIU Edwardsville on Jan. 24 in their most recent outing. Guard Reagan Hurst has been a consistent bright spot during the slump, scoring in double figures in five of those six losses, including back-to-back 17-point performances against SIU Edwardsville and Lindenwood.

The Golden Eagles’ recent struggles have been marked by narrow defeats, with three of their last six losses coming by four points or fewer, including an overtime setback to Southern Indiana.

UALR’s victory earlier this month over Tennessee Tech was characterized by defensive pressure, holding the Golden Eagles to 44 points. Containing Hurst again will likely be a focus for the Trojans. For Tennessee Tech, reversing its fortunes will require solving UALR’s defense and finding scoring support beyond Hurst.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. Following this game, Tennessee Tech will host Western Illinois on Thursday, Feb. 5, while Arkansas-Little Rock will host Lindenwood on the same date.
