Arkansas-Little Rock at Tennessee State
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Tennessee State Tigers will seek a measure of redemption when they host the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at Howard Gentry Complex.
The matchup is a quick rematch of a lopsided affair just 26 days prior, where the visiting Trojans (9-10) dominated the Tigers (3-16) in a 76-39 victory on Jan. 3. Arkansas-Little Rock will look to replicate that defensive performance, which held Tennessee State to its lowest scoring output of the season.
A key player for the Trojans is guard Jordan Holman, who has been a consistent offensive force. In the Jan. 3 win over Tennessee State, Holman posted 15 points and nine rebounds. She enters this contest averaging 16.1 points over her last seven games, including a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double against Tennessee Tech on New Year’s Day. Holman is coming off a 14-point effort in a 67-57 road loss to Southeast Missouri State last Thursday.
Tennessee State, mired in a difficult season, aims to halt a three-game skid. The Tigers are coming off a 91-58 road defeat to Lindenwood on Saturday. Guard Somah Kamara, a player to watch for the Tigers, scored 13 points in that loss. Her production has been variable; she tallied 14 points in a close loss to Southern Indiana on Jan. 17 but was limited to just four minutes in the previous meeting with UALR.
The Trojans have struggled on the road recently, losing their last two away games by an average of 19 points. Tennessee State will hope home court provides an advantage as they search for just their fourth win overall and first in Ohio Valley Conference play since a 70-62 victory over Morehead State on Jan. 15.
Thursday’s contest continues a challenging stretch for both teams in conference play. Arkansas-Little Rock will visit Tennessee Tech on Saturday, while Tennessee State prepares to host Eastern Illinois on Feb. 5.
