Youngstown State at Robert Morris

Preview: Youngstown State Penguins at Robert Morris Colonials

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (Interstat) — Two teams jockeying for position in the Horizon League standings will meet Wednesday when the Robert Morris Colonials host the Youngstown State Penguins in a women’s basketball matchup.

The game at the Charles L. Sewall Center features teams with nearly identical records. Youngstown State (13-6 overall) enters with a slight edge over Robert Morris (12-6). Both are looking to rebound from recent losses in conference play.

The Penguins fell 61-52 at home to IU Indy on Saturday, snapping a two-game win streak. Guard Danielle Cameron, a key player to watch, led Youngstown State in that loss with 16 points and seven rebounds. Over her last five games, Cameron is averaging 12.2 points and 3.4 assists.

Robert Morris also looks to bounce back after a 68-61 road loss at Cleveland State on Sunday. The Colonials were led in that contest by forward Myriam Traore, who scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Traore has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 16.7 points over her last three outings.

The matchup will feature a contrast in recent trends. Youngstown State has struggled offensively at times, failing to reach 60 points in three of its last five games. Robert Morris, meanwhile, has shown scoring punch, topping 70 points in three of its last five contests, including an 80-70 overtime win over IU Indy on Jan. 15.

This game marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season. They are scheduled to meet again in Youngstown on Feb. 11.

With both teams tightly grouped in the league standings, Wednesday’s result could prove pivotal for postseason seeding. The Colonials will aim to protect their home court, while the Penguins seek a crucial road victory to solidify their position near the top of the conference.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST.
