Arkansas-Little Rock at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Interstat) — The Arkansas women’s basketball team delivered a dominant performance Thursday night, cruising to a 96-57 victory over the visiting Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans at Bud Walton Arena.

From the opening tip, the Razorbacks established control, outscoring the Trojans 25-10 in the first quarter and never looking back. The home team’s offensive efficiency was the story of the game, as they shot 54 percent from the field and 47 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Arkansas stifled Little Rock, which managed to shoot just 31 percent overall.

Taleyah Jones led all scorers with 19 points for the Razorbacks. Jenna Lawrence added 17 points, and Bonnie Deas contributed 15 points and three assists in a well-rounded effort. The Razorbacks shared the ball effectively and capitalized on their possessions, scoring 96 points on 80 trips down the floor.

The Trojans, meanwhile, struggled to find any consistent offensive rhythm outside of a 22-point fourth quarter when the outcome was already decided. Alaina Payne led Arkansas-Little Rock with six points and four assists.

With the win, Arkansas improves its record to 5-1 on the season. The loss drops Arkansas-Little Rock to 1-3.

The Razorbacks will next travel to Nashville for a pair of games, facing Drake on Tuesday and Southern Illinois on Wednesday. The Trojans continue their road swing with a game at Arizona State next Friday.
