Mount Saint Mary`s at Loyola Maryland

BALTIMORE (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first winning streak of the young season will meet Thursday when the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers face the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds in a non-conference women’s basketball game.

The Mountaineers (1-3) are coming off their first victory, a 69-47 home win over Morgan State on Saturday. Gabrielle Kennerly led the way with 12 points in that contest. Prior to that win, Mount St. Mary’s had dropped three straight on the road to Richmond, Pittsburgh and Bucknell.

Loyola Maryland (0-5) is still in search of its inaugural win. The Greyhounds fell 66-57 at Drexel on Sunday, despite a strong 17-point, 9-rebound performance from Lex Therien. Amandine Amorich added 14 points in the loss. Loyola’s challenging early schedule has also included defeats by Maryland, La Salle, Virginia Tech and Radford.

The game will be played at Reitz Arena, offering the Greyhounds a chance to secure their first victory in front of a home crowd. The Mountaineers will look to build momentum and even their record before hosting Maryland-Eastern Shore on Nov. 26. Loyola’s next contest is on the road at Yale this Sunday.

Tipoff is set for Thursday night in Baltimore.
