North Carolina at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging North Carolina women’s basketball team looks to extend its seven-game winning streak when it visits Wake Forest in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup Sunday at Joel Coliseum.

The Tar Heels (19-5, 10-1 ACC) have been one of the conference’s hottest teams, anchored by a defense allowing just 55.2 points per game during their streak. Their most recent win was a 53-44 grind against Clemson on Thursday. Guard Lanie Grant has been pivotal, averaging 14.3 points over the last seven contests, including a 16-point effort against Clemson and 18 in a narrow win at NC State.

Wake Forest (13-11, 4-7) aims to build momentum after snapping a six-game skid with a 70-65 road victory at SMU. The Demon Deacons’ offense, which scored a season-high 103 points in a triple-overtime loss to Virginia last week, will test the Tar Heels’ stout defense. Guard Aurora Sørbye led the way against SMU with 18 points and will be a key factor for the home team.

The matchup features contrasting trajectories. North Carolina, firmly in the conference title race, has won its last three road games. Wake Forest has struggled in ACC play but showed resilience in its latest outing. The Tar Heels won the first meeting this season 73-62 in Chapel Hill on Jan. 15.

Sunday’s contest tips off at 2 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on the ACC Network. North Carolina visits Duke next Sunday, while Wake Forest travels to Louisville on Thursday.
