Houston Christian at Southeastern Louisiana

HAMMOND, La. (Interstat) — Two Southland Conference women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Houston Christian Huskies visit the Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

The game at the University Center pits teams with a combined 9-33 overall record. Houston Christian enters at 6-15, while Southeastern Louisiana sits at 3-18. Despite the struggles, their first meeting this season was a classic, a 77-70 double-overtime victory for the Huskies in Houston on Dec. 12.

Both teams are coming off contrasting performances Thursday. The Huskies suffered a lopsided 83-35 road loss at McNeese State, where Madison Hurta led the team with nine points. The Lions, however, snapped a seven-game skid with a 74-64 home win over Incarnate Word, fueled by 14 points and four assists from Aliyah Collins.

Hurta, a player to watch for Houston Christian, has been a consistent scorer, reaching double figures in three of her last five games. For the Lions, Collins has been a primary offensive engine, averaging 12.4 points and 3.9 assists per game over her last eight contests.

The Huskies have shown an ability to win on the road in conference play, securing a 63-50 victory at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Jan. 31. The Lions will aim to build on their recent home victory and protect their court.

Following this matchup, Houston Christian returns home to face Nicholls State on Feb. 12. Southeastern Louisiana hits the road for its next contest at Texas A&M-Commerce on the same date.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, in Hammond.
