Lamar at Stephen F. Austin

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Interstat) — A pivotal Western Athletic Conference rematch awaits Saturday when the Lamar Lady Cardinals visit the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks at William R. Johnson Coliseum.

Lamar (14-7) enters with momentum, having won seven of its last eight games, including a 54-45 victory over Northwestern State on Thursday. The Lady Cardinals handed Stephen F. Austin (15-8) a 73-63 loss in Beaumont just two weeks ago on Jan. 24.

Stephen F. Austin seeks to defend its home court and avenge that loss, but arrives stung by a last-second 65-64 home defeat to Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday. The Ladyjacks had won four of five prior to that stumble.

A key matchup will feature Lamar’s Jacei Denley, who is coming off an 18-point performance in 38 minutes against Northwestern State. Over her last five games, the guard is averaging 12.6 points and 3.8 assists.

She will be countered by Stephen F. Austin’s Ashlyn Traylor-Walker, who erupted for 23 points in the narrow loss to Texas A&M-Commerce. Her scoring punch will be vital for a Ladyjacks offense that was held to 63 points in the first meeting.

The game carries significant weight in the WAC standings as both teams jockey for postseason positioning. Lamar’s recent surge has been built on defense, holding opponents under 60 points in five of its last seven wins. Stephen F. Austin, which averages over 75 points per game at home, will test that defensive resolve.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. Following this contest, Lamar travels to face Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Feb. 12, while Stephen F. Austin visits Texas A&M-Corpus Christi the same day.
