Liberty at Kennesaw State

Preview: Liberty Lady Flames at Kennesaw State Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. (Interstat) — Two teams hovering around .500 will meet Saturday when the Liberty Lady Flames visit the Kennesaw State Owls in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup at the KSU Convocation Center.

Liberty (10-10) enters having snapped a two-game skid with a 60-52 home victory over Missouri State last Sunday. Kennesaw State (9-10) looks to rebound from a 62-57 road loss to Sam Houston last Saturday, its second consecutive defeat.

The game features a contrast in recent momentum and a matchup of impactful post players. Liberty’s Ify Nwaobi is coming off a dominant double-double, logging 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in 28 minutes against Missouri State. Her performance was pivotal in the Lady Flames’ win, though her scoring has been inconsistent in conference play.

For the Owls, Latazia Williamson provides a major defensive presence and scoring potential. She is fresh from a 20-point, five-block effort in the loss to Sam Houston, demonstrating her ability to control the paint on both ends. Williamson has blocked four or more shots in three of her last five games.

Liberty’s victory over Missouri State saw additional contributions from Claudia Acin (13 points, 4 assists) and Avery Mills (10 points). Kennesaw State’s recent loss, despite Williamson’s output, highlighted scoring struggles elsewhere; Shania Nichols and Trynce Taylor combined for 19 points.

In the broader conference picture, both teams have experienced similar struggles, with each posting a 1-2 record in their last three games. The matchup could prove crucial for seeding ahead of the conference tournament, making the battle in the post between Nwaobi and Williamson a key area to watch.

The Owls will aim to protect their home court, where they are 2-1 in their last three home games, including a decisive 83-52 win over UTEP on Jan. 22. The Lady Flames have found road wins harder to come by, with a 2-3 record in true away games since the start of January.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. Liberty’s next game is at home against UTEP on Feb. 12. Kennesaw State begins a two-game road trip at Western Kentucky on the same date.
