Stonehill at Long Island

Preview: Stonehill Skyhawks at Long Island Sharks

NEW YORK (Interstat) — A Northeast Conference women’s basketball matchup featuring two teams looking to rebound from narrow weekend losses will tip off Thursday when the Stonehill Skyhawks visit the Long Island Sharks.

The game is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2026, at the Wellness, Recreation & Athletic Center.

Long Island (10-7 overall) enters with the stronger record but is coming off a 59-58 home loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. The Sharks had won six straight prior to that defeat, largely powered by the standout play of guard Kadidia Toure. Over her last seven games, Toure is averaging 19.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest, including a 29-point performance in a win at Mercyhurst on Jan. 8 and a 23-point, 16-rebound double-double at Central Connecticut on Jan. 2.

Stonehill (6-11) has struggled for consistency but remains dangerous, having split its last four games. The Skyhawks fell 63-58 to Mercyhurst on Saturday. Guard Breana Delaney has been a bright spot, scoring in double figures in five of her last seven outings, including a 17-point effort in the most recent loss.

The Sharks won the first meeting between these teams last season. This contest begins a key stretch for both squads as they navigate the NEC schedule. Long Island will look to leverage its home court advantage and offensive firepower to get back on track, while Stonehill aims to spring a road upset behind Delaney’s steady backcourt leadership.

Following this game, Long Island will host Wagner on Saturday, Jan. 24. Stonehill will travel to face Central Connecticut on the same day.
