Coastal Carolina at Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (Interstat) — A struggling Louisiana-Lafayette squad seeks to halt a lengthy skid when it hosts a Coastal Carolina team looking to build momentum in a Sun Belt Conference women’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at the Cajundome.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (1-17, 0-5 Sun Belt) enter on a seven-game losing streak, with their lone win this season coming against NAIA opponent Dillard on Dec. 29. Their conference losses have been decisive, including a 102-58 defeat at Louisiana-Monroe last Saturday. Mikaylah Manley has been a bright spot, averaging 10.7 points over her last seven games and scoring 20 in the loss to ULM.

The visiting Chanticleers (9-10, 3-3) have been inconsistent but are coming off a 63-59 home victory over South Alabama. Guard Tessa Grady led the way with 15 points in that win and is averaging 12.3 points over her last three contests. Coastal Carolina has shown a high ceiling, evidenced by a 103-41 rout of Columbia in nonconference play, but has struggled to find consistency on the road in league action.

This game presents a critical opportunity for both teams. For Louisiana-Lafayette, it is one of its more winnable remaining conference home games to try and salvage pride in a difficult season. For Coastal Carolina, it is a chance to secure a road victory and climb above .500 in Sun Belt play ahead of a tougher stretch.

Defense will likely be the key. The Cajuns have failed to score more than 58 points in any of their five Sun Belt games, while the Chanticleers have held three of their last five opponents under 65 points.

The teams last met on Feb. 24, 2025, with Coastal Carolina winning 76-59 in Conway, South Carolina.

Following this game, Louisiana-Lafayette hosts Appalachian State on Saturday. Coastal Carolina travels to face Southern Mississippi on Saturday.
