New Hampshire at Army
WEST POINT, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Army women’s basketball team looks to rebound from its first loss of the season when it hosts New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon at Christl Arena.
The Black Knights (3-1) are coming off an 80-55 defeat at Oregon this past Sunday. Kya Smith led Army in the loss, scoring 20 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
New Hampshire (2-3) enters on a high note after a dominant 76-29 victory over New England College, also on Sunday. Eva DeChent poured in a game-high 26 points in just 17 minutes off the bench for the Wildcats.
Army’s defense has been a strength early, holding three opponents under 70 points. The Black Knights opened the season with convincing wins over Pace, Saint Thomas (Minn.) and Siena.
The Wildcats have faced a challenging early schedule with three of their first five games on the road. After opening with a win over Worcester State, New Hampshire dropped contests at Boston College, Colgate and Green Bay before Sunday’s bounce-back performance.
This non-conference matchup is the first of a two-game road swing for the Wildcats, who travel to Brown on Nov. 25. Army will hit the road for its next contest, visiting Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday.
