Milwaukee at Valparaiso
VALPARAISO, Ind. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first winning streak of the young season will meet Sunday when the Milwaukee Panthers face the Valparaiso Beacons in a nonconference women’s basketball game.
The Panthers (1-3) are coming off a narrow 65-64 home loss to Western Michigan on Thursday. Jorey Buwalda led Milwaukee in the defeat with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Jada Williams added 11 points and five boards. Milwaukee’s lone victory this season was a 76-65 win at Northern Illinois on Nov. 7.
Valparaiso (0-3) is still searching for its first win after a 97-50 road loss to Iowa State on Wednesday. Milana Nenadic provided a bright spot for the Beacons, scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds in just 19 minutes of play. Valparaiso’s losses have come by an average margin of 35.7 points.
Sunday’s contest at the Athletics-Recreation Center will be the final tune-up for both squads before challenging road games next week. Milwaukee will host in-state rival Marquette on Wednesday, while Valparaiso travels to face South Dakota on Friday.
