Coppin State at Towson
TOWSON, Md. (Interstat) — The Towson Tigers and Coppin State Eagles will look to get back on track Sunday when the local foes meet in a nonconference women’s basketball game at SECU Arena.
Both teams are entering the contest off double-digit road losses to Power Five opponents. Towson (2-2) fell 88-70 at Maryland on Thursday, while Coppin State (1-3) lost 90-62 at Penn State on Wednesday.
The Tigers have shown a potent offense in their two victories, scoring 100 points against Division II Frostburg State and 76 against Stetson. India Johnston leads the team, coming off a 23-point performance against Maryland. Thalia Shepard added 20 points in the loss.
Coppin State’s lone win was an 80-47 victory over Lincoln. The Eagles are led by Khila Morris, who scored 23 points against Penn State, and Patricia Sosa Lora, who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the same game.
This matchup begins a challenging stretch for Coppin State, which faces Tennessee and Oklahoma in its next two games. Towson will travel to face UMBC next Sunday.
