Illinois-Chicago at Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Interstat) — The Indiana Hoosiers look to build on a dominant opening victory when they host the Illinois-Chicago Flames in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday at Assembly Hall.
Indiana (1-0) opened its season with an 80-46 rout of Lipscomb on Tuesday. Transfer guard Shay Ciezki led the way with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists, while forward Zania Socka-Nguemen added 19 points and six rebounds. The Hoosiers’ offense was efficient from the start, and their defense held Lipscomb to just 29.1% shooting from the field.
Illinois-Chicago (0-1) is seeking its first win after falling 78-63 to Robert Morris on Monday. Despite the loss, guard Jessica Carrothers turned in a strong individual performance, scoring 28 points and dishing out four assists. Amelia Strong added 13 points off the bench for the Flames.
The game marks the start of a challenging early-season stretch for the Hoosiers, who will host Marshall on Nov. 11 before a road test at Florida State on Nov. 16. For the Flames, Friday’s contest is the second of a tough opening slate before their next game at Ball State on Nov. 24.
