Maine-Farmington Beavers at Plymouth State Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. (Interstat) — Maine-Farmington will visit Plymouth State for a women’s NCAA Division III basketball game Friday at Foley Gymnasium in Plymouth, N.H. The Beavers and Panthers both enter with 0-0 records, and the contest is the first scheduled game of the season for each program.
Maine-Farmington will look to begin the new campaign with a more consistent effort after its most recent result, a 108-44 loss at New York on March 6. The Beavers will be the visiting team in a familiar New England setting and will try to set an early tone on the road. Maine-Farmington’s early schedule includes a home game against Me.-Augusta, followed by road contests at Amherst, the University of New England and Rhode Island College before a home matchup with Saint Joseph’s (Maine). The Beavers also are slated to host Me.-Fort Kent, Southern Maine and Maine-Presque Isle during the opening portion of their schedule.
Plymouth State will open on its home floor after its most recent action ended in a 75-61 loss at Eastern Connecticut State on Feb. 21. The Panthers will try to use Foley Gymnasium to their advantage and begin the season with a strong defensive performance. Plymouth State’s early slate includes a road game at New England College, a home game against Thomas (Maine), and road contests at Norwich and Regis (Mass.). The Panthers also are scheduled to host Rivier, Johnson State and Western Connecticut State later in the opening stretch.
The matchup gives both teams an early opportunity to establish rotation and pace before their schedules begin to tighten. Maine-Farmington will aim to turn its road trip into a positive start, while Plymouth State will seek to protect its home court and build momentum in its first outing. With both programs beginning at 0-0, the game offers a clean starting point and a chance for each side to measure its early-season form against a regional opponent.
Both teams will continue with regional schedules after the opener. Maine-Farmington will face a mix of in-state and New England opponents during the next several weeks, including home dates with Me.-Augusta, Me.-Fort Kent, Southern Maine, Maine-Presque Isle and Husson. Plymouth State will also move quickly into a demanding stretch, with games against New England College, Thomas (Maine), Norwich, Regis (Mass.), Colby-Sawyer and Rivier among its early assignments. The contest at Foley Gymnasium is set to bring together two programs looking for a fast start before the schedule settles into a regular rhythm.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Maine-Farmington 60, Plymouth State 51.
