Pratt Cannoneers at Saint Joseph`s (Brooklyn) Bears

NEW YORK (Interstat) — Pratt and Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) will meet Friday in a women’s NCAA Division III basketball game at The Hill Center, with the Cannoneers as the visiting team and the Bears as the home team. Both programs enter the contest with 0-0 season records, giving each side a fresh start in its opening matchup.

Pratt’s most recent previous result was an 89-30 loss to Immaculata at Pratt. Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) most recently fell 78-70 to Sarah Lawrence at Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn). Those results closed the prior slate for both teams, and each will look to begin the new campaign on stronger footing. Pratt will be making its season debut on the road, while Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) opens at home. The Cannoneers and Bears both will be looking to establish rotation and rhythm in the opener. The Hill Center setting gives the Bears a home court for the first test, while Pratt will work through travel and a road environment.

The Cannoneers will try to settle into the road environment and generate offense against a Bears team that will have the comfort of home surroundings at The Hill Center. Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) will aim to use its home court to control tempo and limit Pratt’s early chances. With both teams beginning at 0-0, neither side carries a season record into the contest, and the opening minutes could set the tone for each program’s early stretch. The game is expected to offer an early measure of each team’s readiness before the schedule quickens. Both teams will continue play soon after Friday, with crowded early schedules on the horizon.

Pratt’s next 10 games include home contests against Saint Joseph’s (Long Island), Mount Saint Vincent, Medgar Evers, Wilkes, Cairn and Baruch. The Cannoneers also are scheduled to visit Sarah Lawrence, John Jay, City College of New York and York (N.Y.) during that stretch.

Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) is set to host Medgar Evers, Yeshiva, Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) and Farmingdale State in its next 10 games. The Bears also will visit City College of New York, John Jay, Sarah Lawrence, Mount Saint Vincent, Manhattanville and Stevens Tech during the same span.

The contest on Friday will provide an early look at two teams still forming their identity for the season. Pratt will seek to move past its most recent result, while Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) will aim for a stronger start at home. The meeting at The Hill Center marks the beginning of the latest chapter for both Division III programs.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Saint Joseph’s (Brooklyn) 46, Pratt 45.
