HUNTINGDON, Pa. (Interstat) — The Misericordia Cougars opened their season with a decisive 72-55 victory over the Juniata Eagles in non-conference women’s basketball action Friday night at the Gill Center. Chase Purdy led all scorers with 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to power the Cougars, who improved to 1-0. Bri Bodtorf paced the Eagles, who fell to 0-1, with 18 points and eight rebounds. Misericordia seized control early, building a 19-15 lead after the first quarter.
