POTSDAM, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Rensselaer Engineers opened their season with a decisive 61-44 victory over the SUNY Potsdam Bears in a non-conference women’s basketball game Friday night at Maxcy Hall. Rensselaer established control early, outscoring Potsdam 18-8 in the first quarter and never relinquishing the lead. The Engineers’ defense was the story of the game, holding the Bears to just 12 field goals on 55 attempts for a 21.8% shooting performance from the floor.
