New York converted in the tiebreaker to secure the win.

New York entered the game after an overtime win against Minnesota, while Seattle had lost to Ottawa in its previous game. Seattle had won two of the three previous meetings between the teams this season, including the most recent one. The Torrent had also dropped recent games at Boston, Montreal, Toronto and Minnesota, while the Sirens had recent wins against Minnesota and Ottawa but losses at Montreal, Seattle, Vancouver and Minnesota. Seattle had beaten Boston 3-2 at home earlier in the season and lost 4-3 at Ottawa, while New York had lost to Boston and Montreal at home and to Boston in a shootout. Both teams looked to build momentum in the final stretch of the season.

Seattle next visits Montreal and Ottawa. New York next travels to Minnesota. Interstat’s ELO system had projected New York with a 52 percent probability to win.
