Hurts rallies Eagles past Titans with late touchdown strike

NASHVILLE (Interstat) — Jalen Hurts found Darius Cooper for a 3-yard touchdown with nine seconds remaining, lifting the Philadelphia Eagles to a 24-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026. The late score capped a final drive that spoiled a resilient Tennessee effort and kept Philadelphia unbeaten. The Eagles improved to 2-0, while the Titans fell to 0-2 before an announced attendance of 68,567. Philadelphia won despite trailing in the fourth quarter and needing a touchdown on its final possession.

Tennessee struck first. Cam Ward pushed up the middle for a 1-yard touchdown with 4:22 left in the opening quarter, and Joey Slye added the extra point to give the Titans a 7-0 lead. The Titans defense made Philadelphia work for its yards early, with Anthony Hill Jr. producing a game-high 10 tackles. Kevin Winston Jr. and Micah Robinson each added eight tackles. Tennessee’s pass rush also generated pressure, including a sack by Jeffery Simmons and another by John Franklin-Myers. The Titans limited Philadelphia’s running game for much of the afternoon, as Saquon Barkley managed only four carries for 9 yards.

Philadelphia answered in the second quarter. Tank Bigsby scored on a 2-yard run up the middle with 12:49 remaining before halftime, and Jake Elliott’s extra point tied the game at 7. Later in the quarter, Hurts connected with DeVonta Smith on a deep right pass for 22 yards and a touchdown. Elliott’s kick gave the Eagles a 14-7 advantage with 1:49 left in the half. Tennessee closed the gap before the break when Slye made a 37-yard field goal as time expired, sending the teams into halftime with Philadelphia ahead 14-10. Hurts completed 26 of 37 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns in the game, and he also ran five times for 16 yards. Smith finished with 10 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown.

The Eagles extended their lead in the third quarter when Elliott converted a 58-yard field goal with 8:08 remaining, making it 17-10. Tennessee responded late in the period. Ward scrambled left end for a 1-yard touchdown with 57 seconds left, and Slye’s extra point tied the game at 17. Ward completed 13 of 20 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and he ran four times for 7 yards. The Titans carried that momentum into the fourth quarter and briefly took the lead when Slye made a 33-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining, putting Tennessee ahead 20-17.

Philadelphia then produced the decisive drive. Hurts completed passes to move the Eagles into scoring position, and with nine seconds left he found Cooper short over the middle for a 3-yard touchdown. Elliott’s extra point provided the final margin. Cooper finished with two receptions for 26 yards and the winning score. Dontayvion Wicks added five receptions for 74 yards, while Makai Lemon had one catch for 14 yards. Tight ends Johnny Mundt and Dallas Goedert combined for three receptions for 12 yards. Bigsby rushed 13 times for 33 yards and a touchdown and added two receptions for 5 yards. Will Shipley ran seven times for 24 yards and caught two passes for 5 yards. Hollywood Brown had two carries for 12 yards.

Ward’s favorite targets were spread across the offense. Elic Ayomanor had two receptions for 69 yards, Calvin Ridley caught two passes for 35 yards, Carnell Tate had three catches for 27 yards, Gunnar Helm added two receptions for 13 yards, and Wan’Dale Robinson had one catch for 9 yards. Chimere Dike returned four kickoffs for 101 yards and one punt for 9 yards. Slye made both of his field-goal attempts, and Tommy Townsend punted four times for 203 yards.

Tennessee’s defense kept the game close throughout. Hill Jr. made 10 tackles. Kevin Winston Jr. and Micah Robinson each had eight tackles. Amani Hooker recorded six tackles and an interception, and Marcus Harris also had six tackles and an interception. Jeffery Simmons contributed six tackles and a sack. Jermaine Johnson II, Terrell Burgess, Julius Chestnut, Truman Jones, Nazir Stackhouse, Oluwafemi Oladejo, Jordan Elliott, Erick Hallett II and Keldric Faulk also contributed tackles.

Philadelphia’s defense made key stops when needed. Jihaad Campbell recorded 10 tackles. Quinyon Mitchell and Andrew Mukuba each had six tackles. Cooper DeJean and Jalyx Hunt each made five tackles. Zack Baun added four tackles. The Eagles held Tennessee to field goals on two second-half possessions, which proved critical when the offense mounted its final drive. Philadelphia’s defensive front also limited the Titans’ rushing attack enough to force Ward to make plays through the air and with his legs.

The Titans finished with 20 points and had chances to put the game away. Ward’s two rushing touchdowns and Slye’s two field goals kept Tennessee within striking distance throughout. Tennessee’s special teams also received a boost from Dike’s kickoff returns. Philadelphia’s previous result was a 24-22 home win over Washington on Sept. 13, 2026. Tennessee opened its season with a 23-10 home loss to the New York Jets on Sept. 13, 2026. The Eagles next play at Chicago on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026. The Titans next travel to face the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. Philadelphia will then host the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 4, while Tennessee will visit Baltimore on Oct. 4.
