Lions Hold Off Bears’ Furious Rally for Division Road Win
CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Detroit Lions built a 19-point lead and survived a frantic fourth-quarter comeback by the Chicago Bears to secure a 19-16 victory at Soldier Field on Sunday.
Jared Goff led the Lions, completing 27 of 42 passes for 331 yards and a touchdown. His 15-yard scoring pass to Jahmyr Gibbs and four field goals from Jake Bates staked Detroit to a 19-0 lead entering the final period.
The Bears, held scoreless for three quarters, erupted for 16 points in the fourth. Caleb Williams threw two touchdown passes, connecting with Jahdae Walker and Colston Loveland, and successful two-point conversions after each score pulled Chicago within three. The Lions’ defense sealed the win, however, with Avonte Maddox intercepting Williams late. The Bears finished 11-6, while the Lions improved to 9-8.
