LANDOVER, Md. (Interstat) — The Dallas Cowboys built a commanding lead and held off a second-half rally to defeat the Washington Commanders 30-23 on Thursday at FedEx Field.

Washington running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt sparked the comeback attempt with 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns, one a 72-yard sprint in the third quarter that cut the deficit to 30-20. The Commanders’ defense, led by Bobby Wagner and Will Harris with 10 tackles each, stiffened after halftime but the early deficit proved too large.
