Atlanta at New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (Interstat) — Two NFC South rivals mired in disappointing seasons will meet Sunday when the Atlanta Falcons visit the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome.
Both teams enter the contest with losing records, as the Falcons (3-7) hold a slim edge over the Saints (2-8) in the standings. Despite their record, Atlanta has been installed as a 2.5-point favorite.
The Falcons are looking to rebound from a 30-27 overtime loss to Carolina, a game that saw three different Falcons quarterbacks take snaps. Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins both saw action in the defeat, which was Atlanta’s third straight loss.
New Orleans is coming off its bye week, last playing on Nov. 9 when it earned a 17-7 road victory over Carolina. Quarterback Tyler Shough threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns in that win, while running back Alvin Kamara added 83 rushing yards.
The Interstat game simulator projects a 33-23 victory for the Saints. The over/under for the game is set at 40.5 points.
This will be the first of two meetings between the division rivals in the final weeks of the season, with a rematch scheduled for Jan. 3 in Atlanta.
