Baltimore at Cleveland
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Baltimore Ravens overcame a stout defensive effort from the Cleveland Browns and a sluggish offensive start to secure a 23-16 victory on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field.
In a game defined by defensive stands and offensive miscues, the Ravens improved to 5-5 on the season while the Browns fell to 2-8.
Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson orchestrated a decisive fourth-quarter comeback, erasing a 16-10 deficit with two scoring drives. Jackson finished the game completing 14 of 25 passes for 193 yards and added 10 yards on four rushing attempts. His primary target was Zay Flowers, who hauled in three catches for 78 yards, including a critical 45-yard reception that set up Baltimore’s first-half touchdown.
The game’s turning point came with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. With the Ravens clinging to a 19-16 lead, a direct snap to tight end Mark Andrews resulted in a 35-yard touchdown run, effectively sealing the victory for Baltimore.
The Browns’ defense, led by a dominant performance from defensive end Myles Garrett, kept them in the game for three quarters. Garrett recorded four sacks and five total tackles, consistently disrupting the Ravens’ backfield. Linebacker Devin Bush also made a significant impact, returning an interception 23 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Despite the defensive prowess, Cleveland’s offense struggled to find consistency. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who replaced an injured Dillon Gabriel, completed just 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and was intercepted once. Running back Quinshon Judkins provided the bulk of the offense, rushing for 59 yards on 17 carries.
The first half was a defensive battle, with both teams trading field goals. Baltimore’s Tyler Loop connected from 25 yards in the first quarter, while Cleveland’s Andre Szmyt was successful from 30, 24, and 46 yards to give the Browns a 9-3 lead. Bush’s pick-six extended the Cleveland advantage to 16-3 before Jackson led a 75-yard drive, capped by a Derrick Henry 1-yard touchdown run, to make it 16-10 at halftime.
The third quarter was a scoreless affair, featuring a key interception by Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins. Baltimore then took control in the final period, with Loop hitting field goals from 24 and 44 yards to tie the game before Andrews’ unexpected rushing touchdown provided the final margin.
The Ravens’ defense held firm on Cleveland’s final desperate drive, which ended with four consecutive incomplete passes from Sanders in the red zone as time expired.
The final score of 39 combined points fell under the pregame over/under line of 37.5. The Ravens now look ahead to hosting the New York Jets, while the Browns travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday.
