Buffalo at Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — In a stunning reversal of expectations, the Buffalo Bills delivered a commanding 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at a rain-soaked Bank of America Stadium. The game, witnessed by 73,505 fans, was a tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Bills’ offense exploded after a slow start while the Panthers’ attack sputtered and stalled.

The outcome defied pregame projections, as Carolina had been installed as a 7.5-point favorite, and Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a Panthers win. Instead, Buffalo improved its season record to 5-2, while Carolina fell to an even 4-4.

The first quarter was a defensive struggle, with the only points coming from a 45-yard Matt Prater field goal for Buffalo. The game began to turn decisively in the second quarter. After Carolina’s Ryan Fitzgerald connected on a 48-yard field goal to tie the game, Buffalo running back James Cook III broke the contest open with a spectacular 64-yard touchdown run. The extra point was missed, but the Bills had seized momentum with a 9-3 lead.

The Bills’ defense then made a critical play just before halftime. With Carolina driving, defensive end AJ Epenesa intercepted an Andy Dalton pass intended for Jalen Coker and returned it 24 yards to the Panthers’ 1-yard line. On the next play, Bills quarterback Josh Allen powered into the end zone for a touchdown. Prater’s successful extra point gave Buffalo a 16-3 lead at the intermission.

Any hopes of a Carolina comeback were extinguished in a dominant third quarter by the Bills. Allen found receiver Khalil Shakir for a 54-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead. Cook then added his second rushing touchdown of the day, this time from 21 yards out. Allen capped the quarter with his second 1-yard touchdown plunge of the game, completing a 21-point period that put the contest out of reach at 37-3.

Carolina managed a lone fourth-quarter touchdown on a 3-yard run by Chuba Hubbard, but the missed extra point was a fitting coda to a frustrating day for the home team. The Panthers’ final score made it 40-9, which was the final margin.

Josh Allen was efficient for Buffalo, completing 12 of 19 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown while adding two rushing touchdowns. James Cook III was the engine of the offense, amassing significant yardage on the ground, including his two long scoring runs. The Bills’ defense was relentless, sacking Carolina quarterback Andy Dalton multiple times and generating the crucial Epenesa interception.

For Carolina, Dalton finished 16 of 24 for 175 yards but was under constant pressure. Rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was a bright spot, hauling in 7 receptions for 99 yards. Defensively, linebacker Christian Rozeboom recorded a game-high 12 tackles in a losing effort.

The Bills look to continue their momentum next Sunday when they host the Kansas City Chiefs. The Panthers will aim to regroup on the road against the Green Bay Packers.
