SENDAI (Interstat) — Yuma Mune tripled in two runs during a three-run ninth inning as the Orix Buffaloes defeated the Rakuten Golden Eagles 8-2 on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at Kleenex Stadium Miyagi.

Rakuten jumped ahead in the first on Daisuke Nakashima’s solo home run and Naoki Sato’s RBI double. Orix answered with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth on Ryoma Nishikawa’s two-run homer and three in the ninth. Mune finished 2 for 5 with two RBIs, and Nishikawa was 2 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs.

Raiku Katayama (2-1) earned the win with two innings of one-hit relief, striking out two. Ryota Takinaka (5-6) took the loss. Orix outhit Rakuten 10-5 and improved to 52-52-2; Rakuten fell to 39-62-1. Orix relievers kept Rakuten scoreless after the opening inning, with Soichiro Yamazaki, Ryoga Tomiyama and Kaito Iriyama each pitching a scoreless inning.

Attendance was 22,589, and the game lasted 3 hours, 22 minutes.
