SENDAI, Japan (Interstat) — Ryosuke Tatsumi hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning Sunday evening, breaking open a pitchers’ duel and lifting the Rakuten Golden Eagles to a 4-0 win over the Orix Buffaloes.

The game was scoreless until Yuya Ogoh’s RBI single in the fifth gave Rakuten a lead. Tatsumi then provided insurance with his blast to left-center field off Orix relievers at Kleenex Stadium Miyagi.

Rakuten’s Ryota Takinaka earned the win, combining with three relievers on a three-hit shutout before a crowd of 24,908. Orix starter Sean Hjelle took the loss. The Golden Eagles improved to 7-6, while the Buffaloes fell to 7-7.
