Giants, Swallows Set for Saturday Showdown at Tokyo Dome

TOKYO (Interstat) — The Central League-leading Tokyo Yakult Swallows will look to rebound from a narrow loss when they visit the Yomiuri Giants for an evening game at Tokyo Dome on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The Giants (7-5) edged the Swallows (8-4) 3-2 on Friday night, tightening the early-season standings. Saturday’s contest features a marquee pitching rematch from that series opener.

Yakult will turn to right-hander Kojiro Yoshimura, who was the hard-luck loser in Friday’s game. Yoshimura delivered a quality start, allowing two earned runs on five hits over seven innings while striking out six. For the season, he has a 2.45 ERA across 17.1 innings in three starts, despite an 0-2 record.

Yomiuri will counter with Kazuyuki Takemaru, who earned the win Friday. The right-hander worked 5.2 innings, yielding one earned run on eight hits. He has been consistent, posting a 1.59 ERA over 16.2 innings in his three outings this season.

The Swallows’ offense, which managed just six hits Friday, will aim to provide more support for Yoshimura. Catcher Yudai Koga had two of those hits, including an RBI single.

Yomiuri’s bullpen, featuring relievers Raidel Martinez and Eito Tanaka, who combined for two perfect innings with three strikeouts Friday, will be a key factor if Takemaru can hand them a lead.

Despite Yakult’s superior record, projections are split. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 7-4 Swallows victory, while its ELO rating system gives the Giants a 56.3% probability to win.

Following Saturday’s game, the teams will conclude their three-game series on Sunday before meeting again in a three-game set at Yakult’s Meiji Jingu Stadium next weekend.
